Dear Edina Education Fund Friends,
Before the school year comes to a close next week, I want to thank you for your ongoing support of the Edina Education Fund. To-date we have raised over $430,000 and we are very close to reaching our goal of $455,000 by June 30, our fiscal year end. If you haven't already done so, please contribute to help us reach our goal.
It is because of generous donors like you that the Edina Education Fund can support our schools and help enhance our children’s learning. Here’s just a sampling of what’s been accomplished in 2009/10:
- A new Writing Center at the High School
- Writing Cohort: Graduate-level courses for K-12 teachers to enhance skills in teaching writing
- A new Project Lead the Way course, Principles of Engineering
- Personal Financial Literacy curriculum and laptops for economics classes
- Classroom technology at all elementary schools
- 21 teacher-written innovation grants
Also, a new grant of over $10,000 was recently approved for a Technology Cohort, whereby K-12 teachers will take courses through Hamline to learn new and creative ways of using technology in the classroom.
I am truly grateful to have been able to volunteer at the Edina Education Fund. Edina is a unique community and one that has such diverse resources and talents. I hope you all feel proud that you have been a part of keeping our community and schools strong by your generous contribution of time, energy and funds.
